Home additions in Northwest Indiana
Room additions, dormers, garage conversions and second-storey build-outs. The longest job we do, which is exactly why you get to watch it in photographs.
What the job includes
- Feasibility first — setbacks, lot coverage and what the structure will carry
- Permit drawings and the approval process
- Footings, foundation and framing to the approved drawings
- Roof tie-in detailed so the new and old planes actually shed water
- Mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-in, inspected at each stage
- Insulation, drywall and finish through to a room you can use
Signs you need this
- You need another bedroom or bathroom and cannot find it inside the walls
- An attic or garage that could be living space
- Working from home in a space that was never meant for it
- Moving would cost more than building
How the work runs
You describe the job
Address, what needs doing, and when you would like it. No phone tag to get a person to come and look, and no account to create first — that happens when you submit.
You get a written quote
An itemised document, not a number over the phone. You read it, and you sign it online if you want it. Nothing starts before that signature.
You watch it happen
Each stage of the work is marked off and photographed by the crew as they go. You can see where the job actually is without asking anybody.
You keep the record
Materials, warranties, permits, photographs and cost stay attached to your property permanently — so the next owner, or your insurer, can see exactly what was done.
We work with a vetted network of licensed, insured contractors across Northwest Indiana.
Common questions
How long does an addition take from first conversation to finished room?
Design and permitting is commonly one to three months in this region before anyone breaks ground, then construction runs from a couple of months for a modest single-room addition to considerably longer for a second storey. The permitting half is the part people underestimate, and it is largely outside anyone’s control.
Can I live in the house while you build an addition?
Usually yes, and most people do. The disruptive stretch is when the existing wall is opened to tie the new structure in — that is measured in days, gets temporary weather protection, and is scheduled deliberately. Everything before it happens outside your walls.
How do I know what my lot will allow?
Setbacks, maximum lot coverage and height limits are set by your municipality, and they decide the envelope before anything else does. That check happens first, because there is no point designing a room that cannot legally be built. Sometimes the answer redirects the project upward or into existing space instead.
What holds up an addition once it has started?
In order: inspection scheduling, long-lead materials such as windows and trusses, and weather at the point the structure is open. None of them are eliminated by good planning, but all three are visible to you in the pipeline as they happen rather than being explained afterwards.
